2018 Winnners Lunch

Colin Lawson – founder and partner of Equilibrium Asset Management,
December 12, 2016

Celebrating our second consecutive win at the North East Cheshire Business Awards is an incredible achievement! To be awarded Entrepreneur of the Year in our 21st year of business simply emphasises the fact that we have come such a long way since I set up Equilibrium from my back bedroom in 1995. From those humble beginnings, we now employ 60 staff and manage almost £600 million worth of assets for more than 850 families. For all of that hard work to have been recognised independently on such a fantastic night which celebrates the success of Cheshire businesses is extremely humbling. We couldn’t have asked for a better 2016. To commemorate our milestone birthday, we launched a huge fundraising initiative to reach £21,000 for our chosen charities which was reached on our official 21st birthday party and the year has been a whirlwind of achievements for the business as a whole. We’ve expanded our staff, taken on new clients and surpassed our targets in a way that we never could have envisaged. Receiving this accolade will only reinforce our professionalism and commitment to serving our clients in the best way possible and help us on the path to further expansion.

Nick Entwistle – One Minute Briefs,
December 12, 2016

I am delighted to win this award alongside Big Brand Ideas. Collaboration is important to One Minute Briefs and this win shows that when people work together they can achieve great things. Who knew that Macclesfield would play such a big role in helping the NHS get to Xmas No.1 and push the #LoveYourNHS campaign on to the world stage! (with a little help from Justin Bieber, the most famous man in the world who showed his support too). The entry process was very simple and the evening itself was brilliant. Was great to hear some inspirational talks before the awards. The chance to make a speech was appreciated as I was able to say a few words about what the campaign meant to be and also encourage the local businesses to support the campaign to save Macclesfield’s A&E. As a result of this I want to help build that campaign further with the help of NECBA having spoken to the local MP and Macclesfield Express. Therefore I feel that the Awards have had a very positive impact on One Minute Briefs and this could be the start of something amazing.

Lindsay Brown – Motor Trade Delivery,
December 12, 2016

Winning the NECB Award for Innovation & Design was the icing on the cake for what has been an exceptionally busy year for Motor Trade Delivery. It has not only provided appropriate recognition for our dedicated team of staff but it has also significantly raised the profile of the business which will lead to new collaborative opportunities and income generation. Receiving the award is a fantastic endorsement of our achievements and very much appreciated. The whole night including atmosphere, food, speeches, music and dancing was brilliant – a big thank you from all of us!

Karen Jackson – Robert Jackson Solicitors,

"I was very pleased to accept the award for Business of the Year, Turnover Over £5m on behalf of Roberts Jackson Solicitors. Receiving acknowledgment on our own turf for the work achieved is very important to both myself, the management team and our staff. I  recommend that any business within North East Cheshire should enter the awards as it certainly has had a positive effect on our business. Recognition is a good thing not only for potential clients but also for the staff for all their hard work and tireless dedication. We are very grateful to the judges for presenting us with this award.”

"We were delighted to receive the North East Cheshire Business Award for Export last year in recognition of overcoming the challenges of exporting and for displaying a positive future in exporting. Receiving an award from the North East Cheshire Business Awards was extremely appreciated by all of the team here at Delamere Dairy, not only did it acknowledge the hard work of dedicated members of staff who enabled Delamere to get ahead of the game in a testing export market, but we were also thrilled to have been recognised for contributing to the success of our local business community."

Dave Turner – Topspeed Couriers,
May 26, 2016

"Winning the Best Business Award in 2015 was a key step in the development of Topspeed’s growth. Being recognised by your peers as a major creator of wealth in the region, during a period of austerity, was just recognition for all the hard work the team had contributed in the previous 2 years and can only strengthen the company’s brand identity."

Annelouise Speakman – Destinology,
May 29, 2014

“We were thrilled to receive the customer service accolade at last year’s awards. Destinology have always tried to go the extra mile for all their customers and ensure that the whole experience from booking a holiday to arriving home is exceptional. Winning the award within our first year in Wilmslow has given us the confidence to know we are doing things right in addition to putting us on the local map. As a result of the awards, we received a lot of press coverage and increased brand awareness throughout Cheshire. It was also a great event for networking and meeting other businesses in the area.”

Rachael Calthrope – Apprentice at AstraZeneca,
December 12, 2016

I am delighted to have won the Apprentice of the Year award. I am on a great apprenticeship scheme at AstraZeneca and I have had a brilliant year at AZ so this award was icing on the cake. This award has already boosted my network massively and will continue to help me throughout my apprenticeship and no doubt in my career. It was a lovely awards ceremony attended by some great businesses across North East Cheshire and great to see so many companies getting externally recognised by the work they do.

We were over the moon to be named Business of the Year Turnover over £5million at the North East Cheshire Business Awards. It's so rewarding for everyone at Roberts Jackson when their hard work is recognised, especially when being judged by high profile business people in the north west. The evening itself was superb and it was inspirational to hear some of the winners' stories. The process of entering the awards was very straightforward. Thank you for organising a great event!
